I’ve heard the saying millions of times, but I’ve never really taken the time to realize what it was truly saying. The more I contemplate this idea, I am reminded what it means to be “in the fast lane.” Flying at speeds unrecognizable, unable to even look at the passerby much less give a friendly wave or smile…too consumed by what is ahead to notice what is going on all around. I doubt that Jesus was ever “in the fast lane.” Any time he went anywhere he was surrounded by people who needed him physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I can’t recall a time he ever said, “Flee from me because I have no time for you.” My Jesus stopped, healed and moved on to another. My prayer today is despite how overwhelming life can seem that I never enter the fast lane and become to consumed with my destination to recognize what is going on around me. Just something to chew on today.
